Update: sometimes a guy is just REALLY not into you

Also if anyone was wondering what happened to me & this dude: despite our drunken make out and witty text message exchanges, he just kind of faded out and never followed up about a second date. Fast forward to spring time, when we run into his friend drinking outside of Pearl Dive, who provides us with this life update: Daniel now hooks up with dudes. Full disclosure: I am not a dude.

It’s already hard enough finding a decent guy, I did not actually realize something else I would have to consider is that they’re might switch teams after they experience tongue action with me.

Le sigh.

Hi again!

Well as most of you (aka probably the three people who read this: myself, my downstairs neighbor and some random person in Scandinavia) noticed, it’s BEEN AWHILE. For several reasons:

  1. I got lazy.
  2. TBM and I got back together again during the winter time.
  3. Then obviously we broke up. Again. For the same reasons. Duh.

And now 8 months later, I remembered I had this! Plus I’ve eaten a lot and gone on a lot of shitty dates so I guess I should write these down because my conceited brain assumes the world needs to know. I’M BACK BITCHES

Dayum, Shaw

Just a few days ago, I reported with excitement that All Purpose and Buttercream would be coming to my neighborhood. Well in the past 48 hours, several more spots have announced their upcoming plans to open in Shaw:

  1. Daikaya has announced plans to open a second ramen shop, serving Sapporo-style ramen.
  2. Neighborhood Restaurant Group (the people behind Birch & Barley, Churchkey, Bluejacket) will be opening Hazel, with chef Rob Rubba. Rubba was previously at Azur and Tallula (both now closed), and hosted a pop-up dinner in January at Dolcezza to preview some of his dishes.
  3. Tim Ma (chef of Water & Wall, and Maple Ave.) will open Freehand, his first restaurant in DC.
  4. In the same building as Buttercream and All Purpose will be Espita Mezcalería, Josh Phillips’ first restaurant. This place will showcase artisanal mezcals and Oaxacan food.

It is crazy to think about all the changes that are about to take place around this place. Is this DC’s next big neighborhood? Hopefully my rent won’t be reflecting that…

No

I am on Tinder because I am single (aka “alone”) and don’t feel like being in public, meeting people on week nights when it’s cold and dark outside. I am not on Tinder because I want to see pictures of happy couples. Definitely not on Tinder to be part of a threesome. Can they add another option when selecting your preferences for your profile so that I do not have to swipe through wedding photos?
